North Ferry Co., Inc. provides service that connects Shelter Island to Greenport and the North Fork of Long Island (with connections to the Long Island Railroad and bus services). Continuous ferry service daily, with no need for reservations. Vehicles board on a first-come, first-serve basis. Drivers buy tickets on board for all passengers in the vehicle, cash or check only. Foot passengers purchase tokens at the ferry terminal. There is no fee for children under 10 years old. Ticket books are available in the North Ferry office (business hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, 9 AM to noon). Purchase commuter passes onboard Mondays and Tuesdays only.
The North Ferry Company is owned by the Shelter Island Heights Property Owners Corporation.
