The Shelter Island Heights Property Owners Corporation provides services to businesses and homeowners in the community which includes the Heights Historic District, an area that was originally developed as a Methodist campground in the mid-1800s. SIHPOC’s mission is to preserve the rich history of the Heights, to perpetuate its distinctive and quaint character, and to protect the natural environment and assets of the community. Amenities for residents include private tennis courts and a beach pavilion. SIHPOC also manages the community’s private roads, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and operates the North Ferry connecting Shelter Island to Greenport and the North Fork.
